They don’t hear when I speak out loud. Their eyes get lost as they search the crowd.
They just stare.. their tears grieving their past. I am a ghost in the shadows I cast.
They don’t hear when I scream their names. They don’t hear beyond their silly games.
I am the ghost in their closed mind’s eye. I am the ghost always floating nearby.
When they can’t feel me in the cold winter night. When their dreams swirl long with chill, Gothic fright.
I’ll be the ghost who haunts their dreams, the shades of fear in lost moon beams.
I whisper to them in their deafened ears. I howl in frustration at their petty fears.
I am the ghostly entity they will never outlast.
I shimmer and moan and flicker and roam—
It’s always the darkest hour that out-shines the past.

Here is an absolutely wonderful post by fellow blogger Book ‘Em, Jan O encouraging much needed compassion and support to those who are traumatized in some way by paranormal activity.
Ghosts: Some Thoughts About Support For Those Who’ve Seen Ghosts
We call it paranormal…but what is it really?
I have had people ask me this question time and time again and I have to admit, I find it difficult to answer. It’s easy to fall back on the standard definition of the word…some thing or event that is above or beyond normal, but that simply does not cut it and explains nothing. There are so many sub categories under the umbrella of paranormal, that to just ask what the paranormal is can be impossible to answer. Are you asking about ghosts, hauntings, cryptids, aliens, psychic abilities, NDE’s…what? There is no one way to explain a thing that is fundamentally unexplainable.
I have been immersed in the world of the mysterious, ghostly, unknown and paranormal for as long as I can remember. As a child it was books and more books of haunting tales and then came the movies in my teen years and all through these years I had experienced things I absolutely knew were not what the general public thought of as normal. As a result, a lot of what I experienced I kept to myself knowing it would not be taken seriously. As I grew into adulthood the experiences continued as did the reading and such until finally in 2009 I decided to get serious about paranormal research after investigating a friend’s apartment that was extremely active with para events. The place was amazing and it sealed my future as a researcher and investigator.
That brings us back to the question, what is the paranormal really? Well, it’s a matter of perspective. People have been researching the paranormal since time immemorial and we are no closer today to a solid answer. Whether you are using a notebook and pencil and possibly a voice recorder or a Mr. or Mrs. Gadget who goes in with all the latest ghost hunting tools, you are no closer to discovering what people have been searching for since forever. It boils down to this: if you are a believer in the paranormal and know without a doubt that it is real, then it is normal but just not satisfactorily explained but if you are a non believer then nothing anyone tells or shows you will ever convince you of the reality of paranormal experiences or events. It’s all about your perspective.
We really know nothing concrete about the why and how of it all, only that these things happen and have been happening for eons. Since we can’t seem to come up with anything that describes the paranormal conclusively then I say we are not supposed to know. If we really knew what the dynamics of various forms of “paranormal” were, then there would be no need for or desire to research it. Paranormal, supernatural, anomalous, fringe and other words are just poor blanket terms for things we really don’t understand and probably never will…at least not in this lifetime. The best we can do is to just keep forging ahead and learning as much as possible about what we know to be true but have no sure fire way of explaining.
Mountain Mists: Appalachian Folkways of West Virginia by Dr. Carol Ann Gillespie
This slim volume contains a compendeum of stories describing the cultural heritage and oral customs of the early West Virginians. The majority of the original settlers to the Appalachian region were from England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany. Many modern mountaineers still carry on the old ways today, learned from their wise ancestors in the oral tradition.
Within you will learn of folk remedies and healing. Traditional foods, tokens, premonitions and superstitions. Stories of stories told and songs sung to capture the history and beliefs of the people of this beautiful and wild country. Death, dying and burial customs are a community event, everyone gets involved when one in the community dies. There is much respect, ritual and superstition surrounding the dead and the ghosts they leave behind.
With every page turn you will find useful tidbits of information and a chuckle here and there. Dr. Gillespie packs a whole lot of history in a small package while keeping alive the stories and traditions of the early Appalachian folks. That makes this book an important piece of the larger West Virginia story. The old ways and wisdom should not be allowed to die and this is one of the written works that will keep that from happening.

I have read a bunch of books on the paranormal over my lifetime and expect to read many more. I plan to do more book reviews in the future but I wanted to break the ice with something great, a book that was top shelf , so to speak. With that in mind, I was compelled to choose these two wonderful books by a fellow blogger and new friend, Randall Keller. Voices From Forever is about one man’s journey into electronic voice phenomena. Not since I read Sarah Estep’s Voices Of Eternity several years ago, have I been so inspired by one person’s quest into the unknown dynamics of the voices. Randall Keller is open, honest and very real in his experience and wisdom concerning E.V.P. When you pick this book up you will not want to put it down until you’ve read the last page…and then you’ll wish it hadn’t ended.
But…it hasn’t! Mr. Keller’s second book, There Is No Silence is a continuance of his incredible journey into the world of spirit voices. This book is just as intriguing as the previous book if not more so. Mr. Keller does not presume to know it all and that is refreshing but I have to say I agree with his insights for the most part. His is a voice of experience and rings as true to me as anything I’ve read on the subject of spirit voices. I highly recommend you buy both of these books. They are not just for those of you who love E.V.P. but for all paranormal researchers and to all of you who want to experience the voice of truth.
Find out more about Randall Keller and his work at http://www.randallkeller.com/ where you can hear his collection of E.V.P., listen to The Voices Podcast, purchase these awesome books and more. Have you ever had the spirits mess with your recordings? Here’s what happened to me and my friends.
Within an ongoing investigation of a haunted apartment building, we had already captured picture, video and voice footage (I still have THIS evidence) and one night was uploading and archiving the nights work. We had two mics recording directly to two separate computers and were running two voice recorders. We save our files and archived everything on CD-R’s. We were each able to listen to the recordings once on each computer then they were gone from the hard drives. The CD-R discs were filled with an incredibly loud static that was impossible to remove. Efforts to re-upload to the computers were met with system crashes and eventual eraser of the voice recorders. Our evidence was useless. Now if it was only one computer or disc I’d say it could have been operator error or some bad glitch in the computer or a dud disc. But a laptop, a tower, 2 different brands of voice recorders and 2 different brands of CD-R’s.
Related to this I went and did research on this same location and ended up at the graveyard where the family plot was of the entities I suspected to be haunting the apartment building. All I had with me was my voice recorder, camera and my fiance. I had been taking several pictures and did a voice recording right in the family plot. Later when I uploaded all of this I found that there were chunks cleanly sliced out of the raw wav file. Bits of conversation and questions asked that me and my fiance definitely remember speaking. Now, I not only can’t find that file but the cemetary pics are gone as well.
I’m not sloppy in my research, in fact I am meticulous in archiving my work. I know where everything is and is supposed to be.
I’ve seen lots of people talking about changing evp and reverse evp but very, very little in the way of evidence coming up missing like this with no one to hold accountable but the ghosts themselves. It sounds as if it could have something to do with the electromagnetic field…when you think of erasures happening on electronic media you think of solid magnets but usually not of energy fields.
Please feel free to tell me about your experiences of this nature and any ideas you have on what is going on here.
String theory is telling us we live in a multi-layered, multiple dimensional universe or universes. Between these layers, dimensions or membranes is what is called the space time foam. Scientifically detected bubbles in the ether. Is this where the voices and spirits and orbs travel?
These bubbles pop in and out of existence and can connect via wormholes. Can the entities, who seem to be of a pure energy, time travel through these wormholes? And sinces wormholes are unstable by nature, does it account for the “now you see it, now you don’t” effect or even mechanical or warped evps?
If you have ever experienced having a question answered before it was asked on a recording, you know that time cannot be the same between dimensions. Maybe the entities are not really reading our minds when this happens but rather connecting to one of these fragile wormholes in a different phase of time.
We as physical beings have not yet figured out how to travel a wormhole. Without getting into all the scientific jaron, a wormhole cannot be stabilized enough to support our mass or low vibration plus they are way too small. But spirits in their various manifestations are of a higher vibration and energy so seem well suited to traveling through dimensions and time.
My guess is that pure consciousness can go wherever it chooses. My experiences with astral travel seem to back this up. (More on that at a later date)
So if everything is relative and everything and everyone exists in the all-encompassing NOW and we are all one and we all connect in some way, why shouldn’t the spirits be able to travel through this space time foam? Will the scientific community figure out that what has probably been there forever and what may always be there, is one of the gateways to the other side?
Or does it have something to do with the dark matter and dark energy in space that we can’t even see? We only know it is there because it has a detectable gravitational field. Could it also expain a wide range of mediumistic abilities such as precognition, remote viewing, visions of past lives, ESP?
Let me get your thoughts on this. The nature of time has always intrigued me and a few of the questions I have always asked since childhood is: Where did it all REALLY begin? What was there before nothing? What really sparked that something that created universes and life? Does it really simply boil down to a chemical reaction?
I think science and the paranormal community will discover that the elusive nature of time and space is the doorway to the “unknown”. Will we live to see those advances? Maybe not but when we get to the other side perhaps then these questions won’t confound us as they do now.
