~Dreams In A Locket~

~I wrote this poem yesterday. It sprung from three poems I had written in my twenties and had folded and slipped into my pocket in order to let them work on me. I mean to edit them and post them when they are ready. As of today, I have two folded sheets of twenty bond against my thigh, words from so long ago begging to see the light. The power of this poem took me to my knees as I wrote it.~

~Dreams In A Locket~

I have three poems in my pocket,
folded yesterdays on faded
grey pages.

Compressed memories of strange ages,
folded words suffocate like
faces in a locket.

I have two poems in my
pocket,
folded pages of unused
grey words.

Stifled existence of
strange worlds,
folded parchment retaliate like demons in a locket.

I have one poem in my
palm for you,
one page of letters in a dull
grey hand.

Reused words of a
different land,
folded nows awaken
like a hope brand new.

I have no words left in
my pocket,
you have them now like
missed dreams in a locket.
